PPAWS in Cambodia, Mobile Vet Van

The Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society (PPAWS) is a volunteer organization based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. PPAWS was founded in 2011 by animal lovers whose aim is to improve the welfare of Phnom Penh’s cats and dogs.
In Cambodia the monks in the pagodas traditionally care for those who cannot care for themselves: orphans, the elderly or disabled, and also stray or abandoned animals. But many pagodas cannot afford the time or resources to protect every animal that is brought to them (or born in the pagodas). Our aim is not to undermine this system, but to assist. A mobile vet van will allow us to visit pagodas and treat animals that have been abandoned there. The vet van will also be used to spay and neuter, once the van is in service we can schedule regular spaying and neutering not only in the pagoda but around the pagoda in the homes where the litters are born and then abandoned by pet owners who cannot cope with more animals to feed.
For $30,000 we can buy a second hand van and have it fitted into a mobile vet van. The only Western Vet in Phnom Penh, Agrovet will advise on the fitting of the van to ensure it will be practicable.
